This category gathers the Muslim community's organizations that are neither businesses nor places of worship: mutual-aid associations, cultural centres, foundations, youth and family organizations. It has just opened and holds only four addresses so far, all in Montreal. Two of those listings have photos, and two already carry a rating left by visitors — a thin base, but a real one.
Each of the four listings links to a website, and two have a prayer room on site. Only one gives a phone number and only one its opening hours: to reach an organization, the website is the way in. As with mosques, the halal status does not apply — these are organizations, not restaurants.
An organization can claim and manage its own listing — fix the address and contact details, add photos, publish its opening hours — and attach the events it organizes — talks, fundraisers, family activities — which then appear in the site's events calendar and on the listing itself.
The list is short because it is new, not because Greater Montreal lacks organizations. Associations from the suburbs — South Shore, North Shore, West Island — and from Montreal's boroughs alike have a place here: a suggestion from the app, or a claim request from the organization, is enough to start the review.
A mosque is first a place of prayer; an association is an organization (mutual aid, culture, youth) that may have a prayer room — two of the four do — without that being its main purpose.
